Leya Hartman, MHC-LP

Manhattan & Online

“Everyone deserves to feel understood. I’m here to walk with you through life’s twists and turns.”

Leya (she/her) greets her clients with a warm smile and empathetic ear. She offers individual, relationship/couples, family and group therapy. She sees therapy as a deep dive into understanding the human experience amidst the bigger forces around us. Leya knows that race, age, size, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, class, religion, history and family generations shape how we see ourselves, our relationships, our jobs, everything. Trained in socioculturally-informed Systemic Relationship Therapy, Leya strives to see the fullness of her clients. She is experienced in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a model proven to be highly effective for couples in distress.

Following her studies in anthropology, urban studies, Spanish and a career in government work, she landed in her dream job as a therapist. In her free time she goes to live music shows, lays in the sunshine with a book, watches Gilmore Girls with her cat Tesla, listens to podcasts on runs and tends her indoor plants. She can’t wait to travel back to Mexico and adventure to new spots, with Iceland at the top of her list.
